Lithium-ion batteries catch fire at utility scale. Vanadium flow batteries cost $300–500/kWh and depend on a single Chinese-controlled supply chain. The world needs a safe, cheap, abundant-material grid storage technology.

WiS has developed a membrane-free static zinc–manganese battery — water-based, non-flammable by chemistry, with no pumps or forced electrolyte flow. No thermal runaway, no rare earths, no membrane. Built from commodity chemicals (ZnSO₄, MnO₂) available worldwide at <$5/kg.

Energy efficiency (DC–DC)~77% (single cell, 100 cm² production format)
Coulombic efficiency>90% (sustained, after formation)
Stable cycles demonstrated>200 (single cell; full report in preparation)
Electrochemical trials1,275+ runs
Cycle life target25,000 cycles / 20 yr
System cost target (TRL 8)≤$100/kWh
BOM target (Series A)<$70/kWh
No membrane$0 separator cost
EU LDES mandate: 200 GWh storage by 2030 — no European supplier at scale
Polish R&D costs 3–4× lower than US equivalents — capital-efficient path to TRL 8
